We established the DSG Education Connection Fund in 2009 to offer scholarships to a trade school for those who wish to join the trade industries.

What trades are we talking about?
You may be able to find your ideal career without needing an extensive college education or the associated costs! Whether you hope to be an electrician, plumber, HVAC technician, or pursue any other trade, one of the initial steps is researching schools offering the necessary programs and training. Most programs can be completed in just a year or two, preparing you to start earning and move forward in your career.
Electrician
Becoming an electrician in the U.S. can earn you around $60,000 a year. That’s like making over $5,000 a month!
Plumber
Imagine getting paid to learn! In plumbing, you dive right into hands-on training while earning money.
CDL Driver
Want a career with tons of variety? From local to regional or over-the-road routes, CDL drivers have many career options!
Utility Worker

HVAC Technician
Jobs in heating, A/C, and refrigeration are expected to grow 6% by 2032. That means steady demand and work for skilled pros!
The trade industry will always be around
In our communities, the need for electricians, plumbers, HVAC/R technicians, and other skilled professionals who provide essential services like lighting, water, and comfort will always be constant. Currently, there's a significant demand for these roles. With many trade professionals retiring, there aren't enough new entrants to fill these positions. This makes trade professionals among the most sought-after applicants in North America and offers them long-term career security.

DSG offers a variety of programs geared toward new graduates, especially in the distribution, warehouse and transportation trades.
Have Questions?
While skilled trades that align with DSG’s customers and employee owners are preferred, anyone pursuing higher education in a skilled trade is welcome to apply!
We accept applications until April 5th of every year!
Yes! Any accredited two-year technical school, community college, or university with a skilled trade curriculum is accepted!
No! We encourage students from across our entire footprint and everywhere in between to apply.
Yes! These scholarships are open to any student pursuing a skilled trade.
You’ll need to complete the scholarship application form, provide a copy of your current high school or college transcript, copy of college acceptance letter (if applicable), and reference letter.
Complete the form and email all required documentation to [email protected] or mail it to the address provided on the application.
Scholarships are announced in late May!
Yes! We welcome all qualified students to apply for our scholarships no matter where they are in their educational journey.
Yes! We encourage students returning to their trade school programs who have already received our scholarship to reapply for an opportunity for more funds.
The funds will be distributed directly to your post-secondary institution from the F-M Area Foundation. This typically occurs each year within the second week of August.

“This scholarship will help me continue my education...”
First off I would like to say thank you for accepting me for this scholarship. This scholarship will help me continue my education and get a Masters in Business Administration through Bismarck State College. This will also help me pay for my college rodeo expenses, which goes towards entry fees, gas, meals, and horse feed. I can not thank you enough for selecting me for this scholarship, it means a lot to me, thanks again!
